The library of the Protestant Theological Institute of Cluj-Napoca has received a significant donation of three major academic journal series, estate of Wolfgang Wischmeyer, former professor in Vienna.
A valuable journal collection on early christianity enriches our library

We are pleased to announce that our library has been enriched with three outstanding series of academic journals. The valuable collection came to our institute from the estate of Wolfgang Wischmeyer, former professor in Vienna, through the kind assistance of Oda Wischmeyer and Robert Schelander, Secretary General of SOMEF. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for this generous donation.
The collection comprises the following journals:
Byzantinische Zeitschrift (1995–2022)
The Byzantinische Zeitschrift is one of the oldest and most prestigious journals in Byzantine studies, published continuously since 1892. It provides comprehensive coverage of the latest research in Byzantine history, theology, literature, and art.
Zeitschrift für Antikes Christentum / Journal of Ancient Christianity (1997–2024)
This journal is the leading interdisciplinary forum for the study of early Christian literature, theology, and culture. It pays particular attention to the relationship between early Christianity and the ancient world.
Mitteilungen zur Christlichen Archäologie (vols. 4–23, 1998–2017)
Published by the Austrian Academy of Sciences, this journal presents the latest research in Christian archaeology and early Christian art history. It is an especially valuable resource for the scholarly study of early Christian monuments and archaeological finds.
These series are indispensable research tools for the study of early Christianity and the Byzantine world, and will make a significant contribution to the scholarly work of our institute as well as to church-historical research across the Eastern European region.
